Welcoming Practices Consortium districts are organizing a variety of events to highlight the Month of the Military Child, which is celebrated every April. Here are a few of the activities scheduled:
- Fallbrook High School will hold a Tribute to the Military Child on Saturday, April 23. Over 100 military families will be honored with a special dinner.
- In the Bonsall Unified School District, military families will be honored on Monday April 25 when Bonsall West Elementary School holds a grand opening for its new Book Barracks library.
- The Chula Vista Elementary School District is holding a week of fun “spirit day” activities, such as “Proud to be an American Day,” “Crazy Camo Day” and “Military Parents Are Our Superheroes Day.”
- In addition, all communities with military-connected children are encouraged to celebrate “Purple-Up Day” on Wednesday, April 20. Purple is chosen as the color for the Month of the Military Child because it represents the colors of all the military branches mixed together. Click here for more information. Schools and families are also encouraged to share photos and captions of their celebrations by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
